The U.S. Archives, since before the Confederacy, had stored items found in the remotest deserts of Egypt, the base of the Great Wall of China, and the mysterious quadrants of the Arctic Circle . . . the spoils of war, artwork, forgotten documents, Biblical artifacts, weapons too dangerous to use too valuable to destroy. It was even rumored that objects, possibly beings not of this planet might be stored there . . .
